Growing minds as well as gardens

Our Events

Trevallan Lifestyle Centre loves growing minds as well as Gardens. This is why our Event line-up has always been popular with locals and travellers. As the garden centre evolves so does our lineup. We are starting the year off slow but more events will be released soon.

June 2025

Sunday 29th June - Let’s Talk Climate – A Conversation That Matters

Join us soon at Trevallan for a morning that’s more than just talk. It’s a chance to connect, reflect, and understand the changes happening around us.

We’re bringing together Dr John Price, a passionate science communicator, and Kevin Ahearn, a storyteller rooted in the land and its history, for a relaxed and engaging conversation about climate, community, and the choices we all face.

It’s about clarity. Curiosity. And a reminder that small steps, in our gardens, our homes, and our neighbourhoods, do make a difference.

Whether you're feeling concerned, confused, or just curious, you're warmly invited to come along and be part of this important and surprisingly hopeful morning.

Trevallan is thrilled to bring back our ever-popular Kokedama Workshops!

Kokedama is a beautiful, traditional Japanese art form. A style of bonsai where the plant’s root ball is wrapped in a special soil mix, moss, and string to create a living, breathing piece of natural sculpture.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn step-by-step how to make your very own Kokedama.

You’ll head home with your creation (care instructions included), ready to brighten your space or gift to someone special.

$65 per person

In this hands-on workshop (1.5 to 2 hours), you’ll create a beautiful, natural wreath on a 30cm base, using a mix of fresh and dried materials.

Maki will guide you through every step — from selecting and cutting your greenery to arranging and securing it on the wreath base, sharing her favourite techniques learned from over 20 workshops across Japan.

The focus is on crafting a long-lasting, creative piece you’ll be proud to display at home.

No experience needed and all levels are welcome.

You’ll leave with your own unique, finished wreath.

What to Bring

Gloves if you chose to use them. Due to the natural oils and sap in the materials, we recommend bringing gloves if you’d like to protect your hands or nails.

All tools and materials are supplied.

Information

10am - 12pm

$115 per person

Class size is limited so please pre book.

About Shogun Tools

Shogun Tools was born from a simple gift, a pair of handmade Japanese secateurs Maki gave to her gardener husband, Alex, back in 2013. When friends and colleagues started asking for tools just like them, the seed of an idea took root.

Today, Shogun Tools is dedicated to sharing the incredible craftsmanship of Japanese toolmakers with gardeners, chefs, and makers across Australia and beyond.

Every tool is selected with care, tested by professionals, used by Maki and Alex themselves and sold under the maker’s own name to honour their skill. Shogun Tools believes in ethical trade, fair pricing, and helping preserve generations of Japanese tradition through beautiful, functional tools designed to last a lifetime (or more).

By putting these tools in the hands of people who’ll use and love them, Shogun Tools aims to be a bridge between cultures and craftspeople, with integrity at every step.

August

Saturday 30th August - Celebrating Carol’s (owner) Birth Month and Start of Spring!

It’s Carol’s birth month and almost Spring and what better way to celebrate than by shining a spotlight on other amazing small businesses!

So, for one special day, Trevallan will transform into a mini marketplace. We’re inviting a collection of fabulous local makers/small businesses to set up pop-ups throughout the centre. It’s a chance to discover something new, support the creatives and entrepreneurs in our community, and soak up the atmosphere that makes Trevallan so unique.

Of course we have asked the best foodies in the business to be there - The ever-popular Baked by Brooke, bringing along her irresistible treats (you’ve been warned) and for the first time ever at Trevallan Lanark Baked Goods

We’ll share more details soon about who’s joining us, but save the date and get ready to shop, taste, and explore all while supporting local.
