The Burr Table
The Burr Table
You take my breath away and I could just stare at your beauty and uniqueness all day. You are soft and touchable. I want to run my hands over you and explore your lines and creases
This is how I feel when I look at Kevin’s newest piece.
Australian Rose Mahogany (Dysoxylum fraserianum) table
This Australian Rose Mahogany table comes from a fallen tree at Spring Creek Mountain near the Killarney border ranges. These are very Rare trees
This table top has been made from one of the rarest Timbers of all - a Rose Mahogany burr (the approximate size of a small car).
A burr is formed from the tree undergoing an extremely stressful situation (like an insect attack or fungal issue). While the tree is alive the burrs can look like a very ugly growth, wart. Yet when you cut the burr off you will find timber so beautiful that it takes your breath away. Like us I suppose, we all form some outer layers to protect us from the outside hurts but when it’s stripped back beauty appears.
The table also has a Rose Mahogany root for its legs
This table is one for the lovers, the ones that need to touch, feel, stare at the beauty of a piece that will talk to your soul and tell you about a beautiful life well lived
This is a very rare piece
Approximately 105cm long x 75cm wide x 75cm high
